Kyle on his soap box

KYLE PETTY

Years ago, we were at Charlotte (or Lowe's) Motor Speedway for qualifying or something, and Kyle Petty was meeting the press in the infield media center. He was talking to some media members about somebody on his death bed and somebody else chasing another guy's wife. Or whatever.

I asked the guy beside me, "What the devil are they talking about?", and all he said was, "General Hospital." I have rarely watched soap operas, and I had no idea what they were talking about.

I knew Kyle was a big Andy Griffith fan. So Kyle follows, or at least followed, soaps, too. Live and learn.
