‘HANDSOME’ HARRY GANT HEADLINES THIRD
ANNUAL DARLINGTON HISTORIC RACING FESTIVAL

DARLINGTON, S.C. (Sept. 26, 2010) – Cars from 22 states took to the high-banks of the historic Darlington Raceway for the third annual Darlington Historic Racing Festival over the weekend. Included on the 125 car entry list was a stock car that traveled 1,362 miles from Alington, Minnesota to Darlington South Carolina to attend the event.

The festival featured hundreds of historic race cars from several different eras including: stock cars, Indy roadsters, modifieds, midgets and sprint cars.

“The third annual Darlington Historic Racing Festival showcased some of the nicest vintage race cars out there,” said Darlington Raceway president Chris Browning. “This year’s festival had the most comprehensive entry list in the young history of this event and we hope to continue to grow our car count for next year.”

The festival also included a question and answer session with some of NASCAR’s most well known legends. Harry Gant, Leonard Wood, Waddell Wilson, Ned Jarrett and David Pearson were all featured guests for the session that was moderated by legendary Motor Racing Network announcer Barney Hall on Saturday afternoon.

Following the question and answer session, the group was joined by fellow legends Bud Moore, Cotton Owens, Rex White, Ray Fox, Jim Vandiver, Johnny Allen and Charlie Glotzbach for an autograph session attended by hundreds of fans.

The festival got underway on Friday night with a welcome reception and dinner for participants.
